Highlights

Next Meeting – Wed, Feb 12 at 6:30pm - Holy Cross Church Basement- 118 Center Rd.  Social time:  6:30-7:00, we will meet in the kitchen until the Boy Scouts leave at 7pm.

Refreshments –Carol R. and Judi- Sunshine will provide paper goods, tea, coffee, hot water

Program- Candle Cradle-See material list at end of minutes

 

Challenges/Projects-

  • Block of the Month project- Sally provides a new pattern each month. Have fun with triangles.

  • Celeste- Log Cabin round robin will be introduced for those interested in participating

  • Bev- Some future projects –Coaster that doubles as wine glass holder, Bag that uses pieces of metal tape measure as the closer.  Other ideas- hand quilting, pillow cases, hand appliqué, landscape quilting…fabric swap- bring in a yard of old material…

 

Discussion Items/Reminders/Sewing Days-

  • Sewing Day with Irene-Ann has set up Feb 18th at 1:30, so please check your calendars for a fun afternoon with Irene at her place in Concord 

  • Sewing Days-Celeste checked with Holy Cross and March 15, 22 and 29 are all available 10am-4

  • Weare Patriotic Days: Sat. July 12 and Old Home Day: Sat, Aug. 23rd, 9-4pm. This is the 250th anniversary.

  • Organizations requesting quilts-Please fill out a form so the guild can decide which ones to donate to and what is needed

  • Monetary Value- The donated quilts need to have a monetary value placed on them so we continue to prove we are a charitable guild

  • PO Box Rental –Karen will ask for a smaller PO box, $54, when our contract is up

  • Member suggestion-Carol has some ideas from her other guild for us to discuss. When a member checked in they would give a 6" square and a ticket, then a winning ticket would be drawn. "fat quarter swap" you would be in a group of 4 including yourself and you keep one fat qtr. The other 3 were given to your 3 partners in the group.

  • Dues for 2014 have increased- A vote was taken to raise dues from $12 to $15 /year

  • Contact the Sunshine members – Margie/Charlie, if you know of a member that they should send a card to: get well, thinking of you, sympathy….

 

Something New-Swap/Buy It List- let me know if you have anything for this section.

  • Iron rest that attaches to an ironing board-free item- Let Celeste know if you are interested

Original Sewing & Quilt EXPO-Worcester, MA, April 10-12- Will have brochures and passes at meeting

MQX Quilt Festival- New England-Radisson Hotel, Manchester, NH, April 8 (classes) and  10-12.

  • (1) - 5” square

  • (4)-  5” squares to coordinate with the one above

  • (1) – 10” square for the bottom

  • (4) – 1- 1/2” x 6 -1/2” strips

  • (1) – 2-1/2” x WOF for the binding
